About Scopeland Technology

We are pioneers in the field of low-code, experienced in working with heterogeneous IT landscapes, and visionaries in combining AI and low-code to create smarter software solutions. With the first fully functional low-code platform, we have been supporting large companies, research institutions, organizations at federal and state levels, and other public administration bodies in successfully implementing their digitalization projects since 1998.

The Beginning: A Vision Ahead of Its Time

Long before Low-Code became the industry standard, founder Karsten Noack recognized a fundamental problem: software development was too labor-intensive, too expensive, and too slow. Together with a few colleagues, he explored how these processes could be made more efficient and, in a sense, “industrialized.”

In the early 1990s, the time had come: The idea for what we now call Low-Code was born. Software development (almost) without manual programming

The Courage to Begin

What followed was a leap into the unknown: with his last 100 marks in his pocket, Karsten took the plunge. No office, no phone, no safety—nothing at all except a brilliant idea, boundless enthusiasm, and the firm belief that the time was ripe for a paradigm shift.

Finding good employees was still fairly quick back then. We were also able to convince a few open-minded customers who were willing to explore new ways. But the road was rocky: At first, very few people understood why configuration-based development should be better than manual programming. “Why to configure when you can program?” Statements like that still sit heavy in our stomachs today.

Conveying the idea that manual programming is not the solution but the problem, and that engineering-based approaches represent the future, took years of hard work to convince people. But we persevered.

The Breakthrough: SCOPELAND 1.0

1998 was the turning point: SCOPELAND Version 1.0 went live, the world’s first fully functional Low-Code platform. A number of large, high-profile pilot customers proved that it worked. And not only that—it was the future.

It was the right time to launch internationally and turn the vision into a “mature” company: a product manufacturer with accompanying service and project business.

Today: A Technology Leader with a Set of Service Offerings

Today, Scopeland is far more than just the developer of a comprehensive Low-Code and AI-based digitalization platform. We are not only an established provider of customized IT solutions for large enterprises, state, and federal agencies, but also consultants and project developers dedicated to driving digitalization within our clients’ organizations.

The journey has been long and anything but easy. But we’ve made it: SCOPELAND has become an integral part of the German digitalization landscape and remains one of the technology leaders in software technology.

What drives us? The joy of always staying a step ahead of the times—yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Visionaries in Low-Code & AI

Our Management

Thomas Wolf

Thomas Wolf

CEO & CTO

Like Karsten Noack, the company’s founder and visionary, Thomas Wolf has a technical background. He has been working in product development at Scopeland since 1999, and helped shape the SCOPELAND Low-Code platform even while pursuing his computer science degree, which he began in 2000. After successfully completing his studies in 2004, he moved to the company’s Professional Services division and gained experience in the public sector. Following a brief stint as a software developer and BI architect at Toll-Collect, he returned to Scopeland. There, he initially served as a Managing Consultant for the industrial sector and industry-related administrative solutions, and has been Head of the Technology Services department since 2021. Thomas also considers himself an expert in low-code projects that are particularly demanding in terms of technology and content. He is a passionate advocate of Low-Code technology and is known for numerous technical presentations and public appearances, including legendary live presentations in which he developed a non-trivial digitalization solution using Low-Code within 20 minutes. Thomas’s career path took him from software developer to project manager and eventually to business executive; he is now responsible for a large number of software developers in product and application development, as well as for other services.
